The Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade just turned the temperature of the impending “hot girl summer” way up! That’s right, women and people with uteruses across the United States are getting ready to burn the Patriarchy down. You could say this summer is gonna be a scorcher and I am here for it 100%. Whether you are boycotting sex with men, attending a local protest, or raising funds for Planned Parenthood, I’ve put together a list of my favorite cold, refreshing summer cocktails, seltzers, and cocktail recipes, that will help keep you cool and refreshed so you can fight the good fight all summer long.

Summer Cocktail Recipes

Reward yourself for doing the hard work of smashing the patriarchy with one (or two) of these feminist-themed summer cocktails. They’ll cool you down after a day of being all fired up!

The Angry Feminist

Featured on Locker Room Talk & Shots Podcast’s Sexual Assault Awareness Episode, this is the perfect drink for oh so many reasons.

Ingredients:

1-1/2 ounces tarragon-infused, premium vodka (We love Five Husbands Vodka)
3/4 ounce framboise liqueur
1/2 ounce triple sec
1 ounce of fresh-squeezed orange juice
1 thin-sliced pineapple for garnish
Ice

Preparation

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add all ingredients. Shake vigorously. Strain into a martini cocktail glass and garnish with pineapple.

Joan of Arc Cocktail

Ingredients:

1.5 oz Chamomile-Infused Clontarf Irish Whiskey
0.5oz Celtic Honey Liqueur
0.5 oz lemon juice
0.25 oz cucumber juice
0.75 oz rich honey syrup (2 parts honey, 1 part water)
2 oz champagne

Preparation:

To make chamomile-infused whiskey: Add 10 grams of chamomile flowers and a 750 ml bottle of Clontarf Irish Whiskey to an empty container. Let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Strain into a bottle and store at room temperature.

Add all ingredients (except champagne) to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until chilled.mAdd champagne and strain into a champagne flute.

Consentual Sex On The Beach

Ingredients:

40ml Vodka
15ml Peach Schnapps
50ml Cranberry Juice
50ml Orange Juice

Preparation: 

This drink was created by college student in the UK and first published in the campus magazine at Oxford University. Where better to promote consentual sex than at a University? Combine cold juice with Vodka and Schnapps, stir and sip!

Mind The Wage Gap

Ingredients:

45 ml Hendrick’s Gin
15 ml Bundaberg Ginger Beer
15 ml Angostura Orange Bitters
15 ml Lemon Juice
Elderflower Liqueur

Preparation:

Set aside Elderflower liquer. Shake all remaining ingredients. Double straininto a to glass. Top off with elderflower liqueur.

Rose The Riveter

Ingredients:

1 ½ oz Hendrick’s Gin
½ oz Pama pomegranate liqueur
¼ oz honey syrup
3 oz Dry rosé
Lime wheel

Preparation:
Combine all ingredients, shake with ice and strain into glass filled with cracked ice. Garnish with lime.

The Nasty Woman

Ingredients:

3/4 oz of Gin
3/4 oz of white rum
1/2 oz of raspberry syrup
1/2 oz of Lime Juice
Freshly ground pink peppercorn

Preparation:

Combine gin, rum, raspberry syrup, and lime juice into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake to combine and strain into a martini glass. Top with 2 to 3 cracks of freshly ground pink peppercorn.

The Boss Lady Cocktail

Ingredients

1 ounce grapefruit juice
3/4 ounce rye whiskey
1 dash cranberry bitters or a splash of cranberry juice
1 dash of orange bitters
1 tsp simple syrup
Nasty Woman Wines Boss Lady Bubbles
Lemon twist

Preparation:

This recipe came from Mixologist Patrick Bruce of Thistle Restaurant & Bar in McMinnville, Oregon. We found the recipe on Nasty Woman Wines. In a mixing glass, stir together grapefruit juice, whiskey, bitters and simple syrup. Pour into a champagne flute and then top to the rim with Nasty Woman Wines Boss Lady Bubbles. Garnish with a lemon twist.
