Brooklyn: Your Next Girlfriends Getaway After the Pandemic

Head to Brooklyn for An Incredible Girls Getaway

Are you planning your next vacation to New York City, or specifically Brooklyn? Have you heard that a stay at a boutique hotel like the Condor Hotel is a vital addition to add to your girlfriend’s getaway bucket list?

Traveling during or after the COVID-19 pandemic is not as simple as packing a bag and embarking on an unplanned adventure.

As the article titled, “Vacation in the Summer of Covid-19” notes, “traveling during a pandemic requires lots of research, precision planning and a willingness to play by new and very stringent rules.”

This statement does not mean that it is impossible to go on vacation to Brooklyn. It translates into the fact that it is not a good idea to make “on the spur of the moment” travel arrangements.

Therefore, the question that begs is, how do you plan your next getaway to Brooklyn, NYC?

By way of answering this question, let’s consider the following points:

Check Federal and New York State regulations with regard to the pandemic

The unfortunate reality is that the coronavirus pandemic is far from over. Even though most US states have lifted their hard lockdowns, allowing residents to move around and go back to work, the virus spreads unabated throughout the globe.

The United States is leading the global infection and death rates with the John Hopkins University COVID-19 tracking map showing that the US has over 5.57 million infections and 174 283 deaths. The state of New York and New York City was the leading city and state in terms of active infections and fatalities.

However, states like California, Texas, and Florida have overtaken New York in the number of infections. Therefore, before you travel to a district or state outside of your hometown and home state, it is essential to check whether there are visiting restrictions, overnighting restrictions, and curfews.

The only way to control the virus’s spread seems to be through shelter-in-place or social distancing mandates. And states, like New York, have borne the brunt of the first COVID-19 wave will have restrictions in place to prevent the infection and death rates from climbing again.

Check which tourist attractions are open

As described above, one of the ways to combat the coronavirus is social distancing. Consequently, tourist venues might still be closed, and they might have restrictions on the number of people that can be inside at any given moment. Many of these venues have had to implement booking systems that cut off when the maximum number of people allowed is in the building.

A good example is the Brooklyn Museum. It is a 560 000 square-foot venue that is the first museum to exhibit African art as works of art. It also has over 4 000 items in its Egyptian exhibits. This museum is the place to visit when vacationing in Brooklyn.

Therefore, before you embark on your journey, it is essential to check whether the museum is open, whether there are restrictions on the number of visitors, and whether you need to book an appointment to visit the museum. Otherwise, you run the risk of not getting in if you arrive at the venue and hoping that the museum staff will accommodate you.

The same rule applies to eating out. If you want to eat at an iconic eatery in Brooklyn, such as Juliana’s, where you can feast on the best pizza in New York, it’s essential to phone ahead and check whether they will be open during your visit to Brooklyn. It’s also wise to check their opening hours and whether you have to make a booking before you arrive.

Not sure how to get around the city? There are lots of modes of transportation, but next level your travel experience by using businesses like Limo Find and ride in style.

Wear a mask if you are asked to

The wearing of cloth masks while out in public has become a point of contention in the USA. The article published on bbc.com titled “Coronavirus: Why are Americans so angry about masks,” states that:

“In the midst of the pandemic, a small piece of cloth has incited a nationwide feud about public health, civil liberties, and personal freedom. Some Americans refuse to wear a facial covering out of principle. Others in this country are enraged by the way that people flout the mask mandates.”

While this article aims not to debate the veracity of wearing a mask as a preventative measure to help control the spread of the virus, it is essential to note the following point:

It is essential to adhere to the restrictions and customs of another country or state when you are a visitor. You must ask if it is worth the fight with the venue’s management or front of house staff by refusing to wear a mask. Eateries and tourist attractions might have to enforce the wearing of masks by law. And if you refuse, you will be denied access to the venue, and you could end up on the wrong side of the law if you refuse to conform.

Final thoughts

There is no doubt that we are living in challenging times with no end in sight. The world is moving into the “new normal,“ but no one knows what this entails. Therefore, it is vital to remain calm, check ahead before you travel, and enjoy yourself despite the many unknowns.
