Around the time I turned 43, only a handful of years ago, I began noticing unwanted changes in the skin on my face. People say aging isn’t for the faint of heart, and while I can’t completely disagree, I’m not interested in playing into the outdated sexist and ageist stereotypes. Women in their 40s and 50s aren’t old, we’re just reaching middle age. I decided that the fine lines and dulling skin appearing around my eyes and on my forehead were my body’s way of telling me it was time to put some energy into my skincare routine and perhaps upgrade my face lotion and start to seriously consider an eye serum like August + Monoroe’s Wake Up Call.

August + Monroe Wake Up Call Eye Brightening Serum

$52

To be fair, barring a short stint during my late teens, I had never really invested in a skincare routine that involved my face. My body was a different story. My skin is extremely fair and prone to dryness, itching, and generally sensitive. As a result, I have always worn sunscreen and been generous with my daily application of body lotion. The result is, at 48, I’ve been spared the sun damage that many of my peers have suffered and everyone (I do mean everyone) who lays hands on me is in awe of my soft, silky skin. Now, if only I had paid the same attention to my face when purchasing cleansers and lotions, and turning my nose up at the price of eye serum.

August+ Monroe Wake Up Call applicator tip

From retinol creams and hyaluronic acid serums, over the past five years, I have sampled and experimented with a vast array of face and body products that have both impressed and disappointed me. Generally, I have been thrilled with the improvements I’ve seen in the appearance of my skin. My lines have diminished, my skin tone has evened out, and most days I’d say my face appears even brighter. Unfortunately, the lines and puffiness (bags) under my eyes have been a constant source of frustration. Then, August+Monroe sent me their Wake Up Call Brightening Eye Serum to give a test run.

As soon as the small box arrived I ripped into it, ran into my bathroom, and tried it. But before I walk you through the experience, let’s back up. I always do my due diligence before putting anything on my face. I discovered some quick facts when I researched the Wake Up Call Eye Brightening Serum.

My Experience with August + Monroe Wake Up Call Brightening Eye Serum

Back to ripping the box open. First I washed my face, then I took the cap off of the small tube and discovered that this serum is applied via a smooth, unique patented cooling tip shaped to curve like your finger for a gentle application under your eyes.

The eye serum itself has a lightweight golden gel texture that glides on smoothly and dries clear while nourishing the under-eye area and using active ingredients to diminish fine lines and puffiness.

After applying it, I continued with the rest of my daily routine and prepared to go out for lunch.

About an hour later, I was getting in my car when I noticed a tight feeling under my eyes and I kid you not, my eyes felt and looked brighter. The small, puffy bags I’m always trying to hide with powder were far less noticeable. But, what stunned me then, and still does, is how my under eyes felt!

I Love My Eyes

I’m gonna brag. I love my eyes. I have always felt that they are one of my best physical traits. I have gorgeous hazel eyes that shift from green to brown to something in between based on what I’m wearing.

Generally speaking, I don’t wear a lot of makeup. In fact, one of Wake Up Call’s selling points is that it helps keep eye makeup and concealer from sinking into lines and accentuating the problem. I can’t speak to this, because I only wear light powder that doesn’t give me problems. What I do enjoy wearing is just enough eyeliner and mascara to draw attention to my eyes.

In the last couple of years, I have found myself to be more self-conscious about my eyes because of the lines and bags that have appeared. Since using Wake Up Call, I feel noticeably more confident. I love this eye serum.

When I tell you that Wake Up Call Eye Serum has become a staple of my morning skin routine, I’m not exaggerating. I love that it makes the skin under my eye look and feel different. I highly recommend it for people who want to reduce the fine lines and puffy bags that appear with age. You can expect your eyes and the area surrounding them to look brighter and more energized soon after the first use.

This product looks and feels luxurious. It’s part of my daily self-love and care routine, and it’s part of how I’m helping myself age beautifully!

August + Monroe Wake Up Call Eye Serum costs $52. I’ve had mine just under a month and there is still plenty left so you get a great bang for your buck! You can check it out for yourself here.
