And now we embrace the #TrumpBlackout & turn our attention to these Sheroes

Today I woke to the big news in Twitter land. The #TrumpBlackout is on! Scrolling through a feed full of adorable possums, puppies, and kittens, I instantly felt my cold and hardened heart begin to swell.

But then a thought crossed my mind: wouldn’t sharing images of empowered and adventurous women—you know, every day sheroes—make an even stronger statement?

The answer came to me in mere seconds. “Why yes, Annette, it would.” So, while I adore pics of of yawning baby ferrets, I turned to our Instagram and Twitter contacts for inspiring pics and posts to share.

Behold this incredible image by @Hittheroad_ jacks. You know, just a couple of women who’ve been to 56 countries and counting. True adventure sheroes!

Here’s a breathtaking shot taken by shero and adventuress @Estrunstravels while in Jordan. She lives in Melbourne, Australia and loves to run, bike, trek, and board. Total badass.

Of course, we keep a close eye on the @Oars-rafting Insta because this female-forward business has a whole crew of female guides and gorgeous images that keep us dreaming for days on end! Like this one:

And, then there’s @tayler.pawley who is an overlander and traveler, as well as the co-creator of @womenoverlandingtheworld, and OG Rebelle! This image of women and waterfalls makes me want to strap my hiking boots on.

@Brittany.Donnelly is a mama shero who writes for us and encourages moms to live their best adventures with their kiddos in tow. What an inspiration!

Of course, I’ve had some of my own epic adventures. Like that time I was boating from Puerto Vallarta to Xinalani and a whale approached the boat I was in. Not captured in this video is the one man on board squealing in fear and asking the guide to move away from the whale while all of the women vibrated with excitement and begged to stay and play. Girl power!

And that time I took in Crater Lake while standing on my head.

And that time I took in Mt. Rainer at sunrise from a hut sitting on the edge of a cliff.

But, the real sheroes in my life are my daughters who brave the world each in their own way every day. There’s my oldest, Phoenix, who braved the rapids of Idaho’s epic Salmon River.

And then there is Rain, who creates incredible empowered art! Forget SpiderMAN. There’s a new shero in town.

Finally, feast your eyes on this adventuress, @vassiliki_stv. The desert is calling.

Or, maybe it’s the Ocean that is calling like it was for this amazing traveler @passportofmemories.
